Introducing The Weddingscape
So, it's not only about eliminating the noise, but it's also about: what is that noise anyway?
Our ear, for instance, is adjusted to grasp those sounds rich of overtones, which usually occur in nature. Take an alarm clock, for instance, beep beep beep -- this is so unpleasant to the ear, because it only tickles a tiny part of the entire listening range. That's why it's disturbing. Or a machine noise, for instance, that doesn't exist in nature… that something sustains in a straight line. It's always shaped in some way… cyclic, going up and down, and so on.
So that's a task for the soundscapers (a movement comprised not only of musicians, composers and sound artists nowadays, but also of medical doctors, landscape developers and especially architects): which kinds of sound does our environment contain, which sounds are supporting our concentration, or relaxation, when am I supposed to be awake, when asleep, and so on…..
